Hot and Bothered is featured in Hip Mama Magazine...and the Mamas did an amazing job in making me look (to quote my friend, Daphne) "like a rock star". Thank you Mamas! It feels so wonderful to make this new journey with Hip Mama at my back...my first article ever published was in Ariel's "new" mag and she was the first person to read my book and give me a blurb. If it wasn't for Ariel, I wouldn't be where I am today as a writer, a mother and woman....Hip Mama Magazine gave me voice when I was a young single mother on welfare (read my first piece published in Hip Mama).Being a Hip Mama contributor, gave me enough faith in myself to live my dream to become a novelist.

Our Lady of Welfare

Our Lady of Welfare was an art and literary magazine dedicated giving creative voice to single mothers on ANFC. Founder and Publisher, Annie Downey along with the help of co-founders and publishers, Jean Waltz and Jennifer Blair, started the organization by selling bake goods on Church Street in Burlington. With the help of Very Special Arts of Vermont and Burlington College, the organization was able to develop eight week writing and art classes for teen mothers from The Lund Family Home which produced the creative writing and artwork for Our Lady of Welfare Magazine
